"Silly child, doesn't it hurt? Why don't you run far away?" Hsu's Animal Sanctuary states that a small black dog at an elementary school in Tainan made the school its home, but apparently someone complained it was disrupting the campus. The dog was put in a burlap sack and beaten with a chair until it collapsed from pain, then dumped. Yet the loyal Little Black returned to school the very next day. Fortunately, a kindhearted person reported it, and Hsu Wen-liang rushed to the school to bring the dog back to the sanctuary, preventing further harm.

Hsu Wen-liang stated that Little Black was put in a sack and beaten until unconscious, then taken away and dumped. Remarkably, Little Black made his way back the very next day, which broke everyone's hearts. Hsu received a rescue plea from kindhearted individuals hoping to take Little Black away and provide shelter. When Hsu arrived at the scene, Little Black appeared frightened by the ordeal—the dog tucked its tail nervously around the strangers and cried out in pain when touched, which was heartbreaking to witness.

Hsu took the dog to a veterinary clinic for examination and discovered the dog was covered in bruises all over its body, with blood in its eyes and apparent signs of a concussion. Hsu said that stray children all long for a home. Even though they face abuse every day outside, they still choose to return to the familiar place because it's their only source of attachment. Several teachers and students couldn't help but gently pet Little Black, and finally Hsu brought the dog away to provide it with a home where it would be protected.
