A black dog named Penny was abandoned in a basket by the roadside along with five siblings when she was less than a month old. A passerby discovered them and reported it to the Wugu Animal Shelter. According to netizen "Cat Man," all six puppies were still nursing at the time. Although they were in generally good health, they kept crying for their mother. The office staff member had to busy herself feeding each puppy with a bottle and cleaning the dirt off their bodies.

Cat Man said that besides Penny, the other five littermates passed away within days. Penny is now three years old. Although she was adopted once in the meantime, she was returned shortly after because the family objected. After being returned to the shelter, the dog became anxious and lost confidence, and her personality became increasingly withdrawn.
▼ Originally five littermates were brought to the shelter together, but only Penny grew up healthy.

Cat Man said that Penny, like most of the shelter's dogs, has had very little contact with people. She is both afraid of and curious about people. She also isn't used to walking on a leash—sometimes she'll just lie down after a while. However, with just a little coaxing, she immediately becomes happy and playful again. You can tell she desperately wants to be loved. She likes to curl up at volunteers' feet for affection and stare at you intently with her bright eyes, as if you are her whole world.
▼ After being returned, Penny lost confidence for a while, but recently she's become much more lively.

Although she was returned once, thanks to the help of many volunteers who take Penny out for walks more often, she has become increasingly cheerful and gets along well with other dogs. All she's missing is a loving owner. We hope everyone will help share her story so this wish can come true soon.
