A woman named Ms. Chang in Taichung discovered a stray dog in Wuqi on the 5th, covered in skin diseases across its entire body. Walking under the blazing sun on asphalt so hot it could scald, the dog's wobbly figure broke Ms. Chang's heart. She later saw it shuffle into a crane yard trying to escape the sun, and immediately decided to take it into her car. After sharing the information, the director of Xu Garden Animal Protection in Tainan reached out and offered to help. The dog has now been successfully taken in.
Ms. Chang recounted that while driving home as usual that day, she "saw from a distance a figure moving unsteadily, staggering slowly on the scorching hot asphalt under the blazing sun, while passing vehicles paid it no mind." Her heart ached seeing this. As she got closer, she discovered the dog was emaciated with skin diseases in many places. The slightest touch would cause it to bleed. A nylon rope was tied around its neck, strangling the dog so tightly it could barely breathe, which made her even more compassionate.
Shortly after, the dog seemed to grow increasingly itchy from the sun's heat. To escape the sun, it walked into a crane yard and huddled in a pile of debris against the wall. Ms. Chang quickly asked the crane operator for help to keep the dog there, while she hurriedly gathered food and water to nourish it. But the dog walked back out of the crane yard. "If I didn't take it with me, I might never find it again when I came back," so Ms. Chang made a decisive choice and brought the dog into her car.
Likely from wandering too long or being mistreated before, the dog was terrified of people and snapped defensively. It took Ms. Chang more than an hour to successfully get it into the car and take it to a clinic for treatment. After the news was shared, the director of Xu Garden Animal Protection in Tainan proactively reached out, offering to take in the dog unconditionally. Ms. Chang personally delivered the dog to them and will continue to follow up on its care.
